May 22 — Shop till You Drop (Into Wheel Pose)

Nothing like a little retail therapy, especially when it dovetails into actual therapeutic activity: The Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers is teaming up with Erica Garcia, instructor at McLean Avenue’s Nueva Alma yoga studio to offer free outdoor yoga classes to shoppers right on The Green in the center of the mall! Classes start tonight at 6:30 p.m. with additional classes on May 23 and 29, and June 5, 6, and 13. Mats provided.

May 23 — Get Collegewise

Applying to college can drive any parent or teenager insane. Applying to an Ivy League school? Well, that’s a whole new level of ulcer-fuel. Take some of the panic and confusion out of the equation with a presentation and Q&A with Arun Pannisamy, former assistant director of admissions for Caltech and the University of Chicago and application reader at UCLA, and Nandita Gupta, former admissions officer for Stamford University. The pair will discuss how some of the country’s most selective colleges pick their freshmen classes, as well as Collegewise strategies to optimize your application. Discussion will be held at the White Plains Performing Arts Center from 7-8:30 p.m. Sign up for free here.

A special prix fixe dinner will be held from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m., followed at 8:30 by standup from We Stand Comedy. Billed as the “funniest prix fixe” in Westchester, tickets are $75 per person (wine is extra) and can be reserved by calling the restaurant at 914.637.3777.

May 25 — Mo’ Blues

Check out four-time Grammy winner Keb’ Mo’ live at Tarrytown Music Hall at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $42, and the bluesman will be rocking late into the evening so it is highly recommended you grab a bite to eat first.

The Extra-Terrestrial on Sunday. (First-run showings begin in June with The Incredibles 2 and Ant-Man and The Wasp featuring Bedford’s own Michael Douglas!)

May 27 — Hail, Mary.

If you find yourself casually singing “I will follow Him” and that classic Temptations hit “My God,” oh, Sister Mary Clarence, have we got a Friday evening for you. The Westchester Broadway Theatre is currently producing a musical — more musical — version of your favorite Whoopi vehicle (next to Theodore Rex). Tickets are available online in pairs or fours, and include the price of dinner.
