Though Westchester is home to several big-deal major public companies, it is the small companies that provide the true heartbeat of our business community. (Doesn’t everyone have a favorite local small business that they go out of their way to support?) Comprising everything from startups to solopreneurs, to mom-and-pop retail shops and restaurants, to thriving sub-50-employee companies in all industries, Westchester’s small business community is an economic engine that drives employment and revenues, supports the tax base, and serves nearly everyone who lives within our borders.
We figure they deserve some kudos for doing all of that! So this year, for our second annual Small Business Awards, we honor seven small businesses, one minority-owned small business, and one small nonprofit with awards for General Excellence, and we name one organization as an Outstanding Advocate for Small Business.
Finding enterprises that truly stand out among our all-star roster of Westchester small businesses is no easy task. We whittled down the tall stack of nominations by searching for firms with consistent and significant success, a loyal customer base, and a devotion to their community. They are all small in size, but their accomplishments are anything but.
