With Memorial Day weekend comes the opening of beaches, pools, and country clubs countywide (not to mention some really beautiful weather). But, it's important to bear in mind why we have the day off in the first place—to show our veterans some much deserved appreciation. Here's our guide to some of the ways you can honor veterans, while enjoying the company of family and friends, over this next handful of days.
The Bronxville PTA will host the Family Country Fair and Art Tent on the front lawn of the Bronxville School at 5 pm on Friday, May 27. This event will include a carnival, DJ entertainment, and food. Tickets can be pre-purchased at the PTA’s website or purchased at the event.
On Saturday, the James E. Kearney Run for Fun will start at 8:45 am at the Flagpole on Pondfield Road by the school. You can pre-register at the PTA’s website. Same-day registration starts at 7:45 am. Also, the Dog Parade (also with pre-registration on the PTA site) will begin at 11 am at the Elementary School’s Playground/PTA Village.
The Memorial Day Parade begins at 9 am on Monday, at the Bronxville Train Station, ending with a speech from Mayor Mary C. Marvin honoring Bronxville-area veterans on the school’s lawn.
