More Food, More Wine, More Restaurants, More to Do!
Westchester Magazine’s 2014 culinary showcase, this year expanded from Wine & Food Weekend to Wine & Food Week, presented an amazing assortment of food and wine at a variety of events across the county. Starting with Tortilla Tequila Tuesday on Tuesday, June 3rd through the final Grand Tasting on Sunday, June 8, guests enjoyed the finest in food, wine, beer and spirits all week long. There was truly something for everyone, from Italian food to burgers and beer to a gourmet wine tasting dinner; the 2014 Wine & Food Week was a gastronomic delight!
Fashion, Food & Wine
The Today Show’s Kathie Lee Gifford and famed Westchester restaurateur Peter X. Kelly were the main attractions at Bloomingdale’s, White Plains, during Wine & Food Week’s first Fashion, Food & Wine event. More than 500 guests enjoyed a cooking demo by Peter Kelly, with narration by Kathie Lee, and then sampled the food and Ms. Lee’s recently released red and white wines.
Empire City Casino’s new pinch American Grill was the scene as guests had the opportunity to meet restaurateur and Ducasse Studio Founder Alain Ducasse. With a vast selection of dishes and a line-up of some of New York State’s best craft brews, plus live music, it was a night guaranteed to be a winner!
Burger & Beer Blast
Westchester’s ultimate block party was rocking Kensico Dam Plaza with live music by Mary C and the Stellars and 30 different burgers! Add in voting for the best burger, food trucks, an assortment of beers and wine, plus desserts, and it is easy to see why this is a sold-out event each year!
Junior Chef Academy
Young chefs from 7-17 had the opportunity to learn from the culinary staff at The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester in the first Junior Chef Academy. Everyone got their hands into rolling and kneading dough into homemade gnocchi, which they took home to share with family and friends.
The signature event of Wine & Food Week, the Grand Tasting offers samplings of a vast array of signature dishes from some of Westchester’s finest chefs, 200+ world-class wines and specialty cocktails, all under one roof!
Winemakers Connoisseur Dinner
More than 350 guests savored Westchester’s best cuisine at the most exclusive event of the week. Seven chefs each provided a stellar course, paired with some of the world’s finest wines. The 2014 Food and Wine honorees were announced while guests enjoyed this fabulous pairing of food and wine.
Food lovers were treated to tasty samples at Bloomingdale’s, as several of Westchester’s famed chefs demonstrated how to prepare their signature dishes.
World- renowned wine expert Kevin Zraly led oenophiles through the world of wine with three seminars, each devoted to a different topic. Attendees tasted their way from Bordeaux to Tuscany and learned about grape varietals from around the world
