Music and Travel: A Match Made in Heaven

Love music and travel? If you want the best of both worlds, Phil Ciganer, founder and owner of the legendary Towne Crier Café in Pawling, New York, has launched “Musical Vacation” , a series of family-friendly weeklong musical excursions—complete with guest musicians and performers to entertain your group exclusively—in Costa Rica.

“This is unique,” Ciganer says. “You’re getting a great vacation and real music, as opposed to some hokey Carribbean cover band doing ‘Besame Mucho.’”

Here’s you chance to spend a few days hearing high-quality music while you enjoy a small boutique hotel right on the beach, where the designated guest artist will do a private concert. Guest artists also will host educational workshops for those interested.

The first Musical Vacation (October 18-25) will feature guest artists Kevin McKrell and Kate Taylor. The second (October 26-November 1) will feature Greg Brown and Bill Kirchen. “We’ve got lots of great artists coming,” Ciganer promises.

Accommodations are at Hotel Karahe, and each seven-day Musical Vacation costs $1,770, not including airfare. Travelers who pay in full by August 10 will receive a $100 discount. For more information, visit musicalvacation.com.
