Dine on house-made pastas, thin-crust gourmet pizzas, and wood oven-roasted entrées such as Bistecca di Manzo (grilled marinated NY strip with whipped mashed potatoes, broccoli rabe, and finished with a wild mushroom brown sauce), Salmonata (wild salmon roasted in wood oven served with potatoes, asparagus, and finished with a white wine and caper lemon sauce), and Chicken Arrosto (half-free range chicken roasted in wood oven served with escarole, potatoes, and finished with a garlic white truffle oil). The Trattoria’s Wine Spectator award-winning wine list includes 30 wines-by-the-glass and more than 100 bottles. Open every day for lunch and dinner. Reservations recommended.

Best Pasta 2005. The pasta dishes are so superlative here, it makes you think there's gotta be an authentic Italian connection somewhere. And you'd be right. Owner Anthony Pirraglia's pedigree for pasta comes from his upbringing in the Arthur Avenue section of the Bronx, and from owning another Tuscan Oven Trattoria in Perugia, Italy (he has a third in Norwalk, CT). All the traditional favorite pasta dishes (lasagna, penne alle vodka, linguini in a clam sauce) are offered, but doesn't roasted beet flavored linguine with pecan, asparagus, and grilled chicken apple sausage in a creamy fontina and yellow pepper sauce sound more exciting? And Wine Spectator has recognized the wine list, so don't forget a to order a robust glass of Chianti or Merlot.

Best Fresh Pasta Dishes 2007. After a rich, belly-filling pasta meal here, you won't look at your mother's Sunday macaroni-and-sauce dinner the same way. (Sorry, Mom!) Sure, Tuscan Oven has more traditional pasta dishes (housemade tagliatelle tossed with a hearty Bolognese sauce of beef, pork, veal and pancetta; lasagna with wonderfully seasoned, crumbled sausage and a fresh plum tomato sauce), but its pasta muscles truly are flexed via such dishes as whole-wheat cavatelli with escarole and wild mushrooms and ricotta-stuffed ravioli in a butter-sage sauce. To such innovative, handmade pasta dishes, we say salute!
