One of the county’s only fish-fry eateries, Lonnie’s Fish ‘n Chips is takeout-only and cash-only serving a top-notch crispy fried whiting fresh from Hunt’s Point Market.
The menu is limited, though everything is hand-battered to order and never frozen. The batter is the dry flour Southern-style as opposed to the “wet” coating you’d find in merry ol’ England.
Lonnie’s also serves fried shrimp and chicken, a fish sandwich, homemade salads (coleslaw, macaroni, and potato), and baked goods (chocolate cake, coconut cake, chocolate-peanut butter cake, among others).
Containers of tartar sauce, hot sauce, and malt vinegar are available for dipping. Prices range from $6 for a regular order of fish and chips to $14.50 for "the works" which includes fish, shrimp, chicken, and chips. There's also a lunch special of fish, shrimp, chicken, and chips for $6.50.
Lonnie’s is open Mon to Thurs (11 am-8 pm), Fri and Sat (11 am-9 pm), and Sun (12 pm-6 pm). Look for expanded hours during the summer months.
