Moroccan Cooking Class at Zitoune, Pour’s European Tour Sip & Twit, Passover at Plates

Tonight! Moroccan Cooking Class with Chef Alain Bennouna at Zitoune
(March 22, 7-10pm)

Marrakech native Chef Alain Bennouna will be teaching participants how to cook a three-course Moroccan feast at Zitoune. Students will learn to prepare some of this restaurant’s most popular dishes, including carrot salad with red onions, orange blossom water, orange juice, and cinnamon. For a main, lamb shank braised in saffron, ginger, honey, parsley and cilantro will be featured; and baked fruit and nut b’steeya (a phyllo pocket stuffed with nuts and dried fruits) is planned for dessert. Appetizers and beverages will be provided, and the dinner that the students cook will be served. Cost is $85.00 per person, tax and gratuities not included. Call (914) 835-8350 to book.

Pour’s “European Tour Sip & Twit”

Who says modern discourse is dead? Anthony Colasacco of Pour is joining Mount Kisco Wines and Spirits for a Twitter-powered wine tasting that’s designed to unite wine and social media. Fueled by wine and small plates, Sip & Twit participants will be “tweeting” their responses from anywhere at Pour. The tweet-feed will be simul-cast on a plasma screen at Pour and uploaded globally to the community using WineTwits technology.
 
Admission is $40 and includes small plates and wine tasting. Also expect some great giveaways.

While Passover To Go (a takeaway holiday feast from Plates) will be featured in our April issue of Westchester Magazine, Chef Matthew Karp is also hosting Passover at his restaurant. Look for four courses that include gefilte fish, matzoh ball soup, brisket and matzoh “lasagne.” Dessert is slated to be macaroons, and this event is strictly BYOH (bring your own Haggadah).
