H Mart

We know there’s a Trader Joe’s down the road, but savvy grocery shoppers skip it for the hustle and bustle of H Mart, the Asian grocery store that started off in Queens as a Korean supermarket. Its 37,000-square-foot space comes stocked with fish from Fulton Fish Market, fresh kimchi, and international prepackaged foods, plus a hot food court with Japanese, Chinese, and Korean counters. Hartsdale Fabrics

What Mood Fabrics is to Project Runway contestants, Hartsdale Fabrics is to the crafty shoppers of Central Avenue. You can find gorgeous fabrics for professional- quality fashion design, home decorating, and quilting projects—plus the perfect notions for those last-minute finishing touches. Hartsdale Pet Cemetery

One of Central Avenue’s historic firsts, this cemetery, established in 1896, was the first pet cemetery in the nation. It’s also the only pet cemetery in the United States listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and it boasts the biggest pet mausoleum ever built. More than 80,000 animals are interred here including the pets of a few celebs like Mariah Carey, Gene Krupa, and Diana Ross.  (914-949-2583; www.petcem.com)

Wedgwood Professional Center

Sure, it may look like a Dutch Colonial farmhouse (by way of a Disney movie), but the Wedgwood Professional Center is really a dentist and physical therapy office. Dr. Zonan says the design helps put people at ease, so they won’t dread coming to the dentist. (914-948-8111)

9/11 Memorial Wall

The mural is actually made of 2,000 hand-painted tiles made by residents at art workshops throughout the county and fired at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester.
