This project included adding an infinity pool and a pool house to the grounds to extend the living space outside the walls of the home. The pool takes advantage of the property’s sloping yard: The slope hugs the pool and creates a unique outdoor area. A series of lawn-and-stone terraces leads down from the home to the pool; the tiered design breaks the project into distinct spaces and outdoor rooms. The pool spills toward the natural landscape and mature trees. Crozier Gedney Architects built the house; Wagner Swimming Pools was the pool contractor.

Robert Welsch of Westover Landscape Design

Location: Ossining

When Robert Welsch was called to renovate the landscape of an Ossining home, it was neglected, “scrubby,” and deer eaten. He was tasked with creating multiple zones for entertaining, including a kitchen and herb and vegetable gardens. To keep deer out and protect new plantings, he fenced the entire 4.5-acre lot. An expansive wood deck and outdoor kitchen take advantage of the beautiful views of the Hudson River. An in-ground trampoline was built for endless fun for the homeowners’ children and their friends. The fire pit was made from recycled stone found on the property.

Location: Pleasantville

Juan Ospina facilitated erosion control on this property he has maintained for years with channel drains and plantings of native, ornamental grasses, shrubs, and trees along the hillsides. His company also updates the property seasonally with annuals, urns, and seasonal displays. “The clients love walking out [onto] their terrace to see the continual changing of seasons and gardens,” says Ospina. “They now realize the benefits of a low-maintenance, mass-planted garden.”
