Walk into Lillian August's flagship store in Norwalk - a converted factory with 60,000 square feet of selling space - and you have to stop to catch your breath. Filled with a well-edited selection of goodies, from rustic finds to Asian treasures, country collectibles to eclectic accessories, the stores is set up bazaar style, with each "room" setting like a gift to be unwrapped. While it's the largest, the Norwalk showroom shares the spotlight with four other stores, today run by August's sons, John and Dan Weiss (as director of licensed designs for the Lillian August brand, she oversees and designs signature furniture, textile, and accessory collections). A staff of 35-plus designers help shoppers wend their way through the massive offerings of fabrics, bedding, wallpaper, accessories, and, of course, furniture, including lines by Barbara Barry, Jamie Young, Henredon, Althorp, Drexel Heritage, French Heritage, Jeffco, Cisco, and Notting Hill.
