Armand Benedek's landscape-architecture firm had already gained a brilliant reputation by the time Glenn Ticehurst joined the firm in 1982. Establishing his business in 1960, Benedek, who died in 2004, collaborated with landscape architect David Engel on the design of the Japanese Gardens at the Pocantico Hills Rockefeller estate, Kykuit. Becoming a partner in 1990, Ticehurst brought the firm to new heights, designing projects from modest urban gardens to 500-acre estates, including classical, formal gardens, natural biomorphic environments and equestrian properties. The firm's goals and results are constant: the sites landscape is dictated by the surrounding areas natural topography and indigenous conditions.
