Dr. Amanda Messina is a board certified general surgeon who specializes in cutting edge bariatric, laparoscopic, and robotic assisted surgeries. The bariatric procedures she performs span the full spectrum of life altering weight-loss treatments, including minimally invasive lap band and gastric sleeve, as well as gastric bypass, duodenal switch, SIPS. “It’s incredibly rewarding to help my bariatric patients take back control of their own lives. These are good people who have found themselves on the losing side of a hard fought battle,” she explains. “For the right candidate, weight-loss surgery has a transformative effect that can improve life in dramatic ways.”
Dr. Messina’s expertise also includes a wide range of general surgeries, such as breast cancer, hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and colon surgeries, most of which are performed laparoscopically. “Laparoscopic surgery allows for a faster recovery with less pain which means a quicker return to normal activities,” Dr. Messina notes. “The smaller incisions also produces better cosmetic results.” A member of the Mount Kisco multi-specialty practice since completing her General Surgery residency at NYU Medical Center, Dr. Messina’s training also included undergraduate work at Dartmouth College and medical education at Temple University School of Medicine.
