The priority at Church Avenue Poultry is to sell farm-fresh chickens and other fowl. The antibiotic-free, free-range chickens ($5.25/lb) as well as ducks ($5/lb) and turkeys ($8.95/lb) are never frozen. Takeout meals like lasagna and chicken roulade, prepared by CIA alum Stephen Basteri, are also offered. ‘Everything is made on premise, from the soup stocks to gravies,’ says owner Linda Cooperman. ‘My chef can tell you what’s in anything you purchase.’
