Looking for gelato, prosciutto, and tomato sauce without having to board a plane to Italy? Then head over to Halstead Avenue in Harrison to Casa d'Italia. This Italian specialty shop imports all its goods directly from Italy. Opened in 1997 by Arthur Avenue natives Lucy and Steve Selvaggio, the couple was looking to create a place with great food products. Their biggest sellers today are their daily sandwiches, such as the chicken cutlet sandwich with fresh mozzarella. The specialty shop also offers catering services for bar/bat mitzvahs, communions, graduation parties, and other events.
