Cabbage Hill Farm is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to preserving historic farm animals and using sustainable agriculture techniques. Through aquaponics, a closed system in which water from fish tanks that house tilapia, striped bass, and trout circulates with plants such as lettuce and basil, Cabbage Hill helps cleanse contaminated water, reuse waste as fertilizer, and reduce the release of otherwise harmful outputs. The Farm also houses a myriad of animals including Shetland ducks, large black pigs, Devon cattle, and Heritage turkeys. Tours occur at 1 pm on the first Friday of every month. Call ahead of time if you plan on attending. They also host a farm stand every Thursday at the Mount Kisco train station from 4:30 to 8:30 pm.
