Venturing across the Atlantic Ocean from the coast of Bari, Italy, Louis Balducci opened a corner vegetable stand in Brooklyn in 1916. Nearly 30 years later, that small stand emerged into a burgeoning gourmet market as Balducci moved his business to Scarsdale. The gourmet shop has expanded to 10 locations nationwide, offering artisanal cheeses, fresh produce, and meats. Try a smoked chicken and avocado sandwich, bakery-favorite Brazilian double chocolate cake, or juicy Vande Rose sausage.
