This powder room was part of an entire first-floor redesign undertaken to make this home more modern. Originally, the clients just wanted to “freshen up” the space with new wallpaper, but as the project progressed, they ended up renovating the entire bathroom. Because it is a small space, designer Claire Paquin felt wallpaper would make it feel larger. “We selected a stunning gray-and-white beaded-peacock-feather wallpaper,” says Paquin. “Paired with a metal-star light fixture, a large mirror, and sleek vanity, [it makes] this powder room a modern jewel box.”

Although this is a small space, the homeowner wanted it to make a big impact on guests. “We chose a unique, elongated-chevron marble mosaic tile for the floor and a simple, classic vanity on polished-nickel legs that allows you to focus on the tile,” says designer Claire Paquin. She used a metallic grasscloth wallpaper and Calacatta Gold marble countertop, adding a touch of glamour and sophistication. Both make the powder room sparkle.

This contemporary powder room was added to the main entryway of this Colonial home. The design has light and dark elements for great contrast. Streamlined and functional, the room cleverly hides a storage room. “My favorite element is the mirror, which exemplifies the overall look of the powder room’s dramatic balance of light and dark and the use of natural materials,” says designer Nancy Mayerfield.
