Clover Hill Farm is a 21-acre Old World farmstead “set against a warm, stone palette and verdant landscape,” says Carol Kurth, FAIA, ASID. Although the tract may seem simple at first glance, it is sculptural and elegant. In the front of the house, the designer created a new arrival sequence and landscaped courtyard with large, purple globe alliums to welcome guests. Modern quadrangle gardens are situated around the house, providing raised beds for the client’s organic farm-to-table garden. There are plenty of areas to entertain or sit and take in the beautiful views.

This large-scale landscaping project included the addition of a spa room, pergola entertainment room, full bar, and kitchen, including a pizza oven, BBQ, and seating for eight. Everything was made from marble, so there was a lot of coordination with the Turkish company providing the material and the masons. The front of the home was also reconfigured to include new stone veneers, walkways, Belgium-block detailing, urn plantings, and outdoor lighting. SDR Designs provided drawings for this project.

This home built in the 1950s had a private yard, but it was nothing special. The homeowners wanted to create mini-gardens around the entire house and began by adding a koi pond. More plants were slowly added. The final phase — an outdoor living area, firepit, vegetable garden, and chicken coop — created distinct and unique spaces throughout their yard. The entire project was done in three phases over five years.
