Before you’ve even had a bite of food at Monteverde at Oldstone, it’s the view that gets you. From the driveway — and throughout the 27-acre property — vistas look down onto a curved swath of the Hudson River. Make your way into the restored 18th-century home’s dining room, and Chef Eric Korn smudges the line between traditional fare and his own interpretation of New American cuisine. 

The crispy ricotta gnudi features chunks of lobster and herbaceous chive vin; the roasted chicken gets a bright kick from preserved lemon and basil; and it’s pork-on-pork for the tenderloin with bacon vinaigrette. 

Expect dishes like honey-bourbon-glazed ribs to be served with drinks on Monteverde’s terrace overlooking the Hudson River. 

Come to sip cocktails on the verdant terrace Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, when the kitchen sends out complimentary snacks (anything from small plates to selections from the raw bar). While the setting is different than Korn’s former restaurant, Wolfert’s Roost, he promises one thing will remain the same: “The goal is still to cook food that makes people smile.”
