Letters to the Editor, September 2012

Praiseworthy Article
“Cracking a Cold Case,” (August 2012) was a stunning piece of writing! Way beyond the magazine article category. Thanks for printing it.
A grateful reader, via email

Best Nursery School?
I am wondering why you do not have a Best Of Westchester category for nursery schools? Many of the readers of the magazine have young kids and this would be a great and informative tool for parents. I would love to see this in next year’s “Best of” issue.

Johnny’s Deserves Better
Regarding the article in your August issue that included Johnny’s Pizzeria [“The 97 Best Eating and Drinking Experiences in Westchester”], your magazine portrays this 70-year-old, family-run restaurant as a rundown slum with cranky service, and you have it all wrong. The pizzeria has the best pizza in Westchester. As a big fan of Johnny’s, I feel your magazine puts them down more than speaks about how good the food is. Maybe the next article you write about them should include the opinions of the hundreds of people who eat there on a weekly basis, not just from a writer who tries to sample hundreds of different places just to make a living.

Much-Appreciated Praise
Great job! Last year, the Best of Westchester party was overcrowded, it was impossible to park, and [there was] just a different clientele. You corrected everything this year and made it the best one yet! I was so happy to be a part of it. I am so glad you extended the hours, that you didn’t oversell the Deal of the Day tickets, and that everyone was so well behaved, yet had a great time. I can see how much work goes into planning and preparing for such an event, and to pull it off so well, you truly should be commended. Thanks again for all your hard work!
