10 Top Westchester Fashion Pros: Lisa Primeggia, Co-Owner of Groovy on Grand in Croton-on-Hudson

Lisa Primeggia

Co-Owner of Groovy on Grand, a tween and teen boutique and kids’ fashion design program in Croton-on-Hudson

Fashion sensibility: Groovy—definitely a little bit edgy, fun, and hip. First job in fashion: Opening my store in 2006. My background is in finance. Reason for career switch: My daughter was turning ten and, in Croton, where I live, there were no places to buy clothing whatsoever. Recommended fall purchase: Colored jeans. Favorite item of clothing: Without a doubt, a leather jacket. It just makes me feel good and you can wear it with anything—dress down a gown, dress up a pair of jeans, and everything in between. Number owned: Let’s just say more than ten. Biggest splurge: About twenty years ago, I bought a pair of Cole Haan boots at Nordstrom for two hundred fifty dollars, which, back then, was a lot of money. I still have them and still love them. Favorite item in closet: A pair of Michael Kors silk parachute pants in khaki. They are so comfortable and look great! Favorite designer: I’m not really a big label person. I kinda just buy what I like.

Primeggia wears a black BCBGMaxAzria fringe poncho (about $140), available at BCBGMaxAzria in White Plains; gray suede knee-high boots by Michael Kors (about $200), available at Michael Kors in White Plains; and vintage black pants from her own closet. Her metal earrings by All About Trendz ($12) are available at Groovy on Grand.
