The Greyston Foundation, a network of for-profit and not-for-profit  entities that provides workforce development and social services to the underprivileged, honored board member and volunteer Ruth Suzman by renaming its PathMaking Center at the organization’s annual benefit, held at X2O Xaviars on the Hudson in Yonkers. More than $300,000 was raised during the evening. The newly named Ruth Suzman PathMaking Center is being refurbished and will feature a library, meeting rooms, and computer work stations and provide a safe place for disadvantaged individuals. Andrew Kassoy, who co-founded BLab, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to harnessing the power of business to solve social and environmental problems, was also honored. “It was a spectacular evening,” said Edward Falkenberg, chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “This was our biggest turnout in years.” The Honorary Chair of the benefit was United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Well-known for its bakery in Yonkers, Greyston also provides jobs and affordable housing to the hard-to-employ (e.g., the formerly incarcerated or homeless), medical care to adults living with HIV, and childcare to low-income community members.
