So, when is a Rivertown not exactly a Rivertown? When you’re in the village of Ardsley, which enjoys Rivertown status among residents and developers. You might be confused, since there is not a single parcel of riverfront land, but its key location, nestled next to major parkways and adjacent to Riverfront towns like Dobbs Ferry, make it one of the more appealing locales in Lower Westchester.
“It’s not directly facing the river, but with access to all the other Rivertowns, it’s a nice bedroom community,” says Douglas Elliman’s Satoshi Maezono. “A lot of people are coming there from Brooklyn and Queens, once they have a second child, instead of paying two private-school tuitions. Even with the higher taxes, they pay less for top-rated schools than they would in the city.”
The Scarsdale-based broker added that the Ardsley schools consistently get high marks for their academic reputation and special-education programs.
