Former Rye resident Marilynn Deane Mendell’s fond memories of visiting Playland are tied up in this playful new silk bow tie, named for the summer-fun spot and recently released by Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont. Based on an original watercolor by Mendell, now a resident of Fredericksburg, Virginia, the Playland tie’s design and bright colors, she says, “are inspired by my childhood of Hula-Hoops, frozen Charleston Chews, sunburns, and fireworks” during frequent visits to the waterside amusement park.
