A Crafty Way to Spend the Weekend

Check out the Westchester Craft Show this Friday through Sunday at the County Center.

It's autumn, one of our four favorite seasons of the year. And our minds are on pumpkins, apple picking, hot cider, and cool homey arts and crafts. If you’re interested in the latter, check out the Westchester Craft Show this weekend at the County Center. This professionally-run show ain't just your local high-school style arts fair. Rather, artists from all over the country are selected to join the exposition and display everything from glass, wood and metal to mixed-media, furniture, ceramic jewelry, fiber art wear and more. And the guest invited to speak are purely top-notch. On Friday at 10:30am, Jennifer Scanlon, Assistant Curator of the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City will be discussing "The Meaning of Craft in a Changing World." At 1:30pm, Susan Levi-Goerlich, a prominent fiber artist, will discuss "Stitched and Felted Impressions."

Tickets to the event cost $11 for adults and $9 for seniors. Parking costs $4. The fair runs from 10am-6pm Friday and Saturday, and from 10am-5pm on Sunday. For more information, check out www.countycenter.biz.
