Kensico Soap Bar in Thornwood

Kensico Soap Bar (660 Columbus Ave, Thornwood 914-579-2033; kensicosoapbar.com) co-founders Erin Carbone and Kirsten Nagashima have taken their respective scientific backgrounds in health research and disease therapies and retooled them in order to clean up with a hot retail trend, the soap store/workshop. Located in the spot previously occupied by Luisa New York, a similar entity which has closed, Kensico sells handmade soaps, shower gels, body lotions, lip balms, bath salts, and sugar scrubs. Made from such natural ingredients as olive, coconut, and rice-bran oils, and fresh cucumber, eucalyptus, rosemary, and peppermint, products are offered in six signature scents. Prices range from $3 for a novelty soap and $6 for a 3.5-ounce bar of olive oil soap to $50 for gift sets.
