Yonkers School District Continues Tradition of Appointed School Board

Although most New York State schools have elected school boards, Yonkers remains one of the few that continues to appoint its board—with no signs of change on the horizon. Currently, Yonkers, New York City, and 13 special districts (including seven in Westchester) have appointed boards.
