New Stores

Klaff’s
341 Central Park Ave, Scarsdale (914) 740-1800

No more need to cross state lines into Connecticut for the full Klaff’s experience, now that this third-generation, family-owned, home-design store specializing in lighting, kitchens, bath, decorative hardware, tile, and stone has opened its first 914 location. “We are selling a lifestyle here at Klaff’s,” says co-owner Joseph Klaff Passero, “and we’ve been fortunate to have established wonderful vendor relationships over the eighty-eight years since our founding.” Certified on-staff kitchen and bath designers will guide you through the spectacular 19,000-square-foot showroom at which you’ll discover everything from Oceanside Glass mosaic tiles ($30+ per square foot) and hand-forged bronze Rocky Mountain hardware ($20-$400) to hydrotherapy spas ($1700+) from Hydro Bath.

Pelham Tile & Marble
84 Lincoln Ave, Pelham (914) 355-4847

This spacious new showroom specia-lizes in “unique tiles for people who are willing to do something a little crazy with their house,” says co-owner Ricardo Dos Anjos. Expect a bold, creative collection of wall and floor tiles, most imported from Italy, Spain, or Turkey, in addition to granite and marble countertops. Pelham is the exclusive dealer of the handsome Southampton Brick & Tile Collection, some of whose tiles look as if they date back to ancient Greek or Roman times. Other intriguing offerings include porcelain flooring you’d swear was wood—perfect for bathrooms because it stands up to water—and onyx-colored porcelain floor tile that is indistinguishable from marble (save for its more palatable three-dollar-per-square-foot price tag). Not sure just how out there you’re willing to go? All tiles are sampled on the store’s own floor or shelving, so you can see just how they’ll look in your own abode. Granite and marble installation is available.

The Village Soccer Shop
3 Cedar St, Dobbs Ferry (914) 231-7577

Soccer fanatics rejoice! Former soccer coach Danny D’Angelo heads up this unique shop geared toward soccer lovers, players, coaches, and referees. “My goal was to open a soccer store that was different and more personal than the bigger chain stores,” says D’Angelo. Find everything for your soccer superstar including Calle Street Soccer gear ($39.99), Copa retro soccer jerseys ($75), and assorted brands of soccer cleats. The authentic store ambience will make you feel like you’re actually out on the field with its turf carpet and wooden park benches.
