Israeli Mousse, Italian Cappuccino
Israel is not especially known for its desserts, but you might want to give an Israeli treat a try at the new Martine’s Fine Bake Shoppe (10 Fisher Ave, Tuckahoe 914-346-8650). But which one? How about the berry purée-topped cheese mousse made with Israeli white cheese? Or, if it isn’t a sweet you’re after, how about a savory burek ($1.25), a kind of Middle Eastern empanada stuffed with potatoes or spinach? Other offerings include Sicilian orange cake ($8.90), approximately 40 varieties of pastries (try the Mozart—walnut meringue layered with cappuccino mousse), and Boston cream pie doughnuts filled with homemade custard ($1.75). Whatever you choose, wash it down with a cup of gourmet Italian-brand Segafredo coffee.

This bakery is incredible! Blows away any Italian owned bakery. Cakes are fresh, light and melt in your mouth. We have ordered many cakes from here. Just last night we had a chocolate mousse layer cake w/ chocolate whipped ganache frosting - WOW!. My personal favorite - cannoli filled cake. My parents go there every Sunday after church for their crumb cake! They are very accomodating too,,,I asked them to make a ballet slipper for my nieces' ballet recital and she created a "form" to make the cookies.
