These Westchester County record stores carry a range of vinyl from recent pop releases to classic and vintage albums.

Records have made a massive comeback in recent years. And whether you’re a collector of vintage records or simply enjoy the look of albums on your wall, records hold a timeless, widespread appeal. After all, there’s something special about placing your record on the turntable, carefully touching the needle to the vinyl, and listening to completion. Westchester has stores stocked with crates full of new and pre-loved vintage records of all genres and time periods.

Big Jim’s Records

Big Jim’s Records is an independent record store where you can buy, trade, and sell records. The Buchanan shop is fully stocked with LPs from a range of decades, and you can browse the website to check out available records. If you’re in the market for a specific record, you can email the staff to check the inventory. Records are constantly being added, so make sure to stop by for the most up-to-date vinyl.

Clockwork Records

This record emporium specializes in ’60s current underground hardcore, punk, and metal, along with a variety of psych kraut, rock, prog, ska, dub, jazz, novelty, folk, and mainstream rock. If this sounds up your alley, head over to the shop, which is a two-minute walk from the Hasting-on-Hudson Metro-North stop.

Underground Vinyl is a passion project created by two Larchmont residents. Listeners who enjoy new albums, this is your store! You’ll find current and classic rock, rap, hip-hop, pop, and indie records, with the occasional pre-owned vintage vinyl on display. The shop also sells turntables, speakers, and accessories.

Bruised Apple Books and Music

Bruised Apple is a one-of-a-kind bookstore that carries a handful of rare gems, including books, CDs, movies, and even records. This is a store where you can peruse around with an open mind, since something is bound to speak to you. The doors to this Peekskill shop have been open since 1993, making it a longtime favorite in Westchester County.

Marquee Records

13 Main St, Fl 2, Tarrytown; 914.631.3390

Marquee Records was founded amid the pandemic by Tarrytown Music Hall volunteer Greg Jacquin. It started when he was inclined to drive around Westchester and collect records from over 50 donors. Jacquin and his volunteers then put together two record sales, raising over $8,000 for the nonprofit Tarrytown Music Hall. Now, the record store, which is run completely by volunteers, sits above the music hall’s marquee.
