The 411: In 2007, Money magazine ranked Eastchester number 27 in its “Top 100 Best Places to Live” in the U.S. It’s easy to see why. Located just 20 miles north of New York City, the Town of Eastchester, which includes the incorporated villages of Bronxville and Tuckahoe, offers its 19,000 + residents the best of both worlds. It has the urbane sophistication of the city—paved sidewalks, a plethora of shops (including those in the Vernon Hills Shopping Center on White Plains Road) and restaurants—coupled with the tranquility and sought-after amenities of the suburbs—manicured lawns, quiet neighborhoods, award-winning schools. In addition, like neighboring Scarsdale, Eastchester, which was settled in 1664, offers a quick commute into Manhattan via car or Metro-North (Scarsdale, Crestwood, Tuckahoe, or Bronxville stations). Situated between the Hutchinson River Parkway and the Bronx River Parkway, and with a thoroughfare (Post Road/White Plains Road (Route 22) running through it, Eastchester also affords easy access and egress to the rest of the county. The town offers a variety of housing options—Colonials, contemporaries, and splits, as well as condos and townhouses—and a number of communities and neighborhoods, including the exclusive Lake Isle community. Eastchester’s Lake Isle Country Club includes a swimming pool complex, eight tennis courts, and a par-70, 18-hole championship golf course.
