I love the idea of the river walk, as a life long westside Yonkers resident I have had a view of the river and the palisades my whole life. Unforetunately as municipalties from Manhattan to Albany have finally acknowlegded the fact that the beauty of the river and its scenery is something to embrace and share with all citizens, Yonkers has not followed suit. No, we are having a disaster of high rise towers and parking garages destroying our riverfront. When the manufacturing base left Yonkers over the past 3 decades what was the short sighted ideas of the pols? Lets see how much money we can make out of this. Instead of adopting an idea of public places on a downtown waterfront, Yonkers is destroying both public access and the beautiful palisade vistas that so many long time Yonkers westsiders identify with home. Oh well I quess this will go the way of our beautiful library, whole neighborhoods (the Hollow) and be replaced by urban sprawl and blight.
