If your child is fixated on ocean life, immerse him or her in marine biology at Whale Camp, located in the Bay of Fundy (between Maine and Nova Scotia), one of the world’s richest and most diverse marine biology ecosystems. The camp, which has been voted one of 10 “Summer Camps Worth the Money” by MSN Money, offers the unique chance to closely observe and study whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals, and puffins in their own natural habitat. Campers gather data about whales from a 65-foot sailboat, sea kayak amid dolphins and seals, gain hands-on experience using onboard marine biology equipment, and investigate marine life in tidal pools and bogs. Bird-lovers will also be happy here: Campers travel to the highly restricted Machias Seal Island to glimpse rare puffins, razorbills, and murres as part of each week’s marine science experience.
