The Priciest and Cheapest Homes for Sale in Westchester

Some of the least expensive—and most expensive—homes for sale in our county now.

They say Westchester has a home for every budget—but we took that idea to the extreme. Still, every house has its ups and downs. Some people have to squeeze all of their stuff into 600 square feet, others have to chase equestrians
off their 47-acre lawns. Compare the opposite ends of our housing spectrum on the market.

2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, 1,200 square feet, .228 acres. Taxes: $6,435 What’s to Love: The location: right on the Annsville Creek, a tributary of the Hudson River, that’s ideal for fishing and boating What’s Not to Love: “It has a unique layout that may only appeal to specific tastes,” says realtor Grace Vinciguerra. Plus the home sits right up against Dogwood Road.

2 bedrooms, 1 bath, 1,188 square feet, .131 acres. Taxes: $5,225 What’s to Love: The train station is within walking distance and the yard is private and a decent size. What’s Not to Love: Needs a lot of updating.

1 bedroom, 1 full bath, 628 square feet, .08 acres. Taxes: $2,038 What’s to Love: Realtor Toni Addonizio reports the community is private and has its own swimming area, clubhouse, and activities for children and adults at no charge. What’s Not to Love: The house has no basement, and “the converted-bungalow style is not popular,” Addonizio says.

6 bedrooms, 7 full baths and 1 half bath, 10,875 square feet, 1.269 acres. Taxes: $118,000
Amenities: Sound Shore waterfront, pool, dock, garaging for 20+ cars What’s to Love: There are terraces overlooking the water from each bedroom. What’s Not to Love: Most homebuyers want a 10,000-plus square foot house to have more than 1.2 acres.
Realtor: Elizabeth Sauer at Houlihan Lawrence (914) 833-0420 x323/(914) 262-7331; esauer@houlihanlawrence.com

9 bedrooms, 7 full baths and 4 half baths, 12,944 square feet, 47.5 acres. Taxes: $244,697
Amenities: 11 fireplaces, theater, gym, garages for 10 cars, 80-foot pool, equestrian facilities, guesthouse What’s to Love: “It has every conceivable amenity and is a stunning property, both inside and out,” realtor Hilary Evans says. “In one of the dens, there’s even a secret Prohibition-era closet hidden behind a built-in.” What’s Not to Love: It’s on an unpaved road, which can make driving difficult.

8 bedrooms, 8 full baths and 2 half baths, 21,000 square feet, 101.6 acres. Taxes: $258,838
Amenities: equestrian facilities, walled garden, spectacular vistas, pool, gatehouse, guesthouse, caretaker’s house  What’s to Love: “What a provenance,” declares realtor J.B. Avery. “Devonshire was built by J. Borden Harriman and his wife, Daisy, prominent members of New York’s social elite.” What’s more, the price dropped nearly 12 percent in January. (It was $30 million.) What’s Not to Love: Some of the outbuildings could use an update. And the price tag is still $26.5 million.
