What Your Perfume Says About You

Marian Bendeth, a Toronto-based global fragrance expert and owner of Sixth Scents, a consulting company, has a dead-on ability to pinpoint personality traits based on perfume choices. “After conducting thousands of consultations with women from all over the world, from different walks of life and backgrounds,” she says. “I’ve found that women with certain personality types gravitate to the same scent families.” She pegged me perfectly. See if she has you right, too.

Seeing Double

Master Colorist Vasken Demirjian planned to move into the Trump Tower—but he certainly didn’t plan to be on the outs with his family. A family dispute has forced Demirjian to work out of the quarters of Static Salon in White Plains since November. This spring he plans to move into his new headquarters. The original Demirjian Salon on Mamaroneck Avenue (which Demirjian, formerly an art dealer, headed after his beloved brother suffered a fatal heart attack) is keeping its name along with the same hair and laser treatments, and is now owned by Vasken’s sister in law, Hilda Demirjian. But she’s made a few changes, both in the look of the salon and its offerings. “We’re remodeling and redecorating the salon and now have a manicure/pedicure staff in five days a week and have added massages to our menu,” says Carole Tocci, administrative assistant at the salon.

A New Beginning

Paulo Gregorio, a colorist from Richard Scott Salon, has taken over the Adam and Eve Salon (725 Bedford Rd, Bedford Hills 914-666-2800) and has totally renovated the place. He’s holding a contest for his clients to come up with a new name to go with the new digs (the new salon is not affiliated with other Adam and Eve salons in the county); winner receives $1,000 in services, which include hair cuts, color, extensions, straightening, and nail care. Kathleen Troy, formerly at D’Alessandro’s in Armonk, has joined his team.

Hair Mascara

Don’t let those roots show between colorings. Ugh! As easy to use as mascara for your eyelashes, hair mascara is a quick way to cover up pesky roots without a trip to the hair salon. Available in natural (blonde, brunette, auburn) hair tones as well as metallics (Frédérick Fekkai’s line contains diamond powder and crushed pearls for maximum glam), and just about every hue in the rainbow for a decidedly unnatural look. But, hey, it washes out so you can dare to experiment. Available at Xanadu Beauty Supply in Yonkers and other beauty salons, from $4 to $20.
