Art invites us to gain new perspectives of ourselves and the world around us—the Katonah Museum of Art, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, and the Neuberger Museum of Art are gems.
Bedford Village Court House. Sitting on the benches, you can feel the vision our forefathers had in creating the American experiment.
Caramoor Center for Music & the Arts. Ninety acres of lush gardens and beautiful Venetian architecture transport you to a creative oasis where classical, jazz, and American roots performances take place in the gardens and historic home all year round.
Delicious maple syrup. Maple sugaring at Muscoot Farm for the elixir of the Northeast has quickly become a favorite family outing.
Edward Arron. Inspiring cellist and alumnus of Caramoor’s Evnin Rising Stars program and son of one of my early mentors, Judith Arron, who was the director of Carnegie Hall and a Chappaqua resident.
Film. A trip to Pleasantville for dinner, a movie, and conversation at the Jacob Burns Film Center is another “New York City experience” you can have right here in Westchester.
Golden Delicious. Picking apples at Outhouse Apple Orchards on Hardscrabble Road in Croton Falls in September and October.
Halloween in Katonah. Hundreds (thousands?!) of children visiting historic downtown homes for treats defines community.
John Jay Homestead. Come to his home in Katonah to learn firsthand about the vital role he and his wife, Sarah, served as one of our country’s key forefathers and foremothers.
Katonah. A charming village, inspired by the arts, where I call home.
Lyndhurst. Experience incredible art, architecture, and breathtaking views of the mighty Hudson River.
Mianus River Gorge. What vision and dedication it took to preserve this sanctuary, with its inspiring hikes and untouched natural beauty!
New York.< Yes, it is an incredible city, but Westchester has world-class art and music, too.
Ojai. The beautiful town in California from which I moved—go visit it!
Pea Pond Road. This is one of the most beautiful stretches of road in the area in each season. (Yes, it goes right by Caramoor.)
Quickly fly out of Westchester County Airport: what a convenient resource in our backyard.
Restaurants. I love Moderne Barn (Armonk), Cafe of Love (Mount Kisco), Mint (Tarrytown), Beascakes Bakery (Armonk), 121 Restaurant (North Salem).
Sound. Pause to listen deeply to the sounds around you (wind, birds, music, conversation, and silence).
Train. Take a family outing to explore the area by train. How many train lines (and subways) can you ride in one day?
Unifying. From fighting fires to protecting the environment and historic landmarks to supporting the arts, volunteerism, and philanthropy knit the fabric of our vibrant community.
Views of the reservoirs gracing the landscape in all seasons and times of day.
Westmoreland Sanctuary in Mount Kisco is another beautiful place to hike with so many natural features.
