Bibliophiles, rejoice! Harkening back to the days when Amazon was just a river, Tarrytown resident Jos Niforos recently opened an honest-to-goodness independent bookshop featuring new and used books—he hunts down the latter in old attics and musty basements. “Good books don’t go out of style,” Niforos says. “Browsing a well-curated shop for books is one of life’s joys.” So stop in for, say, a 1952 pocket paperback edition of Zorba the Greek for $3, a beautiful vintage children’s book for $20, or a first edition of Kafka’s The Metamorphosis in its original German (price on request; for the deep-pocketed only). Niforos purchases used books in good condition, too.
