Argentinean restaurant Milonga Wine & Tapas (577 N Broadway, White Plains 914-358-1444) has opened in the space that once housed The North End. Chef Angelo Magno, formerly at Argentinean restaurant Tango Grill in White Plains, heads up the kitchen. Dinner entrées include churrasco-style skirt steak, seafood and chicken paella, and parrillada (grilled Angus strip steak and flat-iron sausages with yucca). Among the tapas selections: empanadas, tilapia ceviche, and a roasted duck wrap. Milonga is open every day for lunch and dinner; entrées cost $14 to $27.
A bank (surprise!) has bought up a series of storefronts on Boston Post Road, forcing La Piccola Casa to new digs across the street (410 W Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck 914-777-3766). The Northern Italian restaurant, which faces Mamaroneck Harbor, has gained 20 more seats for a total of 65. Dinner entrées average $25.
John Reynolds, formerly owner/chef at the now-defunct Bungalow, is the new executive chef at gastropub The Tap House (16 Depot Sq, Tuckahoe 914-337-6941), replacing Henry Reilling.
Douglas Gardner, Cortlandt Manor resident and former sous chef at Zephs’ in Peekskill, is the new executive chef at the French/American eatery The Bird & Bottle Inn (1123 Old Albany Post Rd, Garrison 845-424-2333). Dinner is served Thurs to Sun; a Champagne brunch is offered Sun, and a tavern menu ($17.61 for three-course prix-fixe) is available on Thurs.
Harvest Market on the Sound (703 W Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck 914205-3743), a new 5,000-square-foot gourmet market, carries breads from Amy’s and Balthazar, and such gourmet ingredients as Spanish and Italian truffles and Blue Foot mushrooms.
