The Tuckahoe Bar That’s One of the Liveliest in the County

Growler’s Beer Bistro is the go-to spot for 20- and 30-year-olds.

Patrons drink their fill of local beer at Growlers Beer Bistro

Growlers Beer Bistro in Tuckahoe was one of the last places we hit on this most epic of quests. And we should’ve hit it sooner, and more often. It had one of the liveliest bar scenes we’d seen in the entire County, filled to the brim with 20- and 30-somethings—and we weren’t even there for one of their event nights. They have trivia night on Tuesdays, music bingo on Wednesdays, brewery nights and kill-the-keg nights on alternating Thursdays, and live music on Saturdays (all of which you know we’re going back to try out first-hand). But all the beer games and entertainment can’t make up for a crappy beer list. Luckily, aptly named Growlers offers a rotating list of 15 craft beers on tap, a cask-aged selection, and so many bottles and cans, we refused to count them all (just trust us that you’ll find a beer you love). And, perhaps the best part: its frequent-flyer-like Wall of Foam. How it works is you get a “beer trail,” on which you list the beers you drink on each visit. As you hit the milestones, you get a prize. At 25 beers, you get a hat; at 50, you get a half-growler free; at 75, a $25 gift certificate; and at 100, a plaque on the Wall of Foam, a t-shirt, a growler, and half-priced drinks every Wednesday for the rest of your life. Suffice it to say, if you wander into Growlers sometime in the near future, you’ll most likely see us there, beer in hand, filling out our beer trail, kicking your ass at music bingo.
