A Capitol Idea
We’re not the only ones with a Capitol Theatre.
While we pride ourselves on originality, sometimes we get caught up in a trend. Take the vaudeville venues that opened in the early 1920s with the name the “Capitol Theatre.” Though the vaudeville acts are out, many of the venues remain open today—and new Capitols have been added—and are in use as performing arts centers and movie houses. Ours was dormant for a while, but in September 2012, The Capitol Theatre re-opened with an inaugural concert featuring Bob Dylan, stealing the spotlight back. Here’s how our Capitol stacks up against a few others.
