Century-Old New Castle Cottage to Be Moved Across the County

In a hamlet of New Castle, a 1,500 square-foot cottage built in the 1890s—now dwarfed by more modern and spacious homes—was about to be demolished, when a Westchester resident, Brenda Kelly Kramer, flurried to its rescue. The property's new owner, who recently built a 5,500-square foot, five-bedroom home on the property, planned to have the cottage demolished, and was so taken with Kramer's idea that he is willing to let her have the cottage for free—as long as she covers the moving costs.

The New Castle Landmarks Advisory Committee said the town will even consider giving the cottage landmark status.
