Golf Gear & Gadgets For The Savvy Player

You’ll play better if you look better, don’t you think? You’ll also lower your score with some of the latest golf accessories on the market.

Shoes that shine

New Balance, known for making performance footwear for multiple sports, stepped into golf this spring with unique styles for men and women. Both cleated and spikeless models are available, each made with high-quality waterproof leathers and lightweight, breathable air-mesh fabrics. The spikeless models are built on the New Balance Minimus running last, allowing toes to splay apart for increased comfort and freedom of movement. Suggested retail price: $120 to $160

Get a grip

If you’re looking for a better putting stroke — and who isn’t? — we have some heavy news for you. Try the Secret Grip by Boccieri Golf, the people who brought us the heavy putter. The Secret Grip is available in three different weights (100-, 155-, and 165-grams) for putters, and two weights for swing clubs. It has a 17-gram tungsten back weight in the tip and uses a 40 percent heavier compound for the grip itself. It comes in classic slim, midsize, and jumbo sizes. The heavier grip encourages you to use your body’s larger muscles while discouraging those spasmodic jabs at the ball. Suggested retail price: $13 to $25, depending on weight

In the bag

Tired of wet clubs no matter how careful you are? There’s good news for you! Sun Mountain Sports has expanded its H2NO collection to include cart bags and carry bags this year. Sun Mountain’s most popular bag outside of North America, the H2NO bags are constructed with waterproof fabric and zippers as well as taped seams. H2NO carry bags feature tops with integrated handles for ease in picking up and setting down; a top-molded stand attachment for stability; the company’s proprietary E-Z Fit Dual Strap System for a balanced carry across both shoulders; and a patented Roller-Bottom stand mechanism for easy leg activation. For those rounds when you ride, their stand bags have leg lock straps and cart-friendly bottoms that fit easily into a cart’s bag well. And it’s all waterproof! Suggested retail price: $259 to $289
