Pleasantville Farmers' Market Goes Indoors

There is good news for fans of the outdoor Pleasantville Farmers’ Market who get the winter blues each November when the market shutters until the following May. The Pleasantville Indoor Farmers’ Market (Pleasantville Middle School cafeteria, 40 Romer Ave, Pleasantville;  pleasantvillefarmersmarket.org), the County's largest, has begun its first season. Offerings include fresh produce; artisan-crafted breads; baked goods; dairy products; and high-quality meat, poultry, and fish from 32 vendors from the Hudson Valley and tri-state region. Spice up a recipe with Indian chutney from  Bombay Emerald Chutney Company, or make an Italian meal with pasta from Thornwoodbased Trotta’s House of Pasta. Satiate your sweet tooth with desserts and other baked goods from Dobbs Ferry’s Little Croc Bakehouse, or munch on a macaron from Irvington’s Red Barn Bakery. Since this is a producer-only market, all products are locally grown or raised, or produced using farm ingredients from nearby. The farmers’ market is open every Saturday, between 9 am and 1 pm, from January 5 through May 11. The outdoor market reopens May 25 at Memorial Plaza by the Pleasantville Metro-North station.
