February Restaurant Openings, Closings, Events and More in Westchester

Durian in Larchmont and Bar’Lees, Wine and Whiskey Bar in Mamaronek open, while Frannie’s Goodie Shop and Anna Artuso’s Pastry Shop give us something to look forward to in the coming weeks.

Bar’Lees, Wine and Whiskey Bar (157 Mamaroneck Ave, Mamaroneck 914-630-7512; barlees.us) has opened; Larchmont residents Colin Goundrey, Andre Cohen, and Chef Kelly Corcoran are the owners. The beverage selection includes more than 400 wines (many from boutique, family-run vineyards) stored in the 11,000-square-foot stone-walled wine cellar, 120+ whiskies, and a signature cocktail list. Wines range from $8 per glass to $2,000 a bottle for first-growth Bordeaux, while whiskies run from $5 to $50 per serve. On the menu: gourmet pizzas (balsamic caramelized Asian pear, ricotta, arugula); panini (12-hour slow-cooked prime-rib); salads; and a range of cheese and meat platters. House-baked desserts like olive oil cake with pomegranate whipped cream and honey are also available. Bar’Lees is open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 pm on

Durian (147 Chatsworth Ave, Larchmont 914-833-1900), newly opened in the space that housed The Catery, is a Thai restaurant serving dishes such as kra prow beef, sweet Thai sausage in lime-garlic sauce, vegetarian pad Thai, and braised lamb shank. Most entrées range from $15 to $25. For an unusual yet delicious dessert, try the durian fruit with warm sticky rice and fresh coconut cream. The restaurant is open on weekdays for lunch and dinner and on weekends for brunch and dinner

Tableside service is offered through the winter season at French restaurant L’Escale (Delamar Greenwich Harbor, 500 Steamboat Rd, Greenwich, CT 203-661-4600; lescalerestaurant.com). Dishes such as black truffle chicken, côte de bœuf, day boat whole fish with croûte de sel, and crêpes Suzette flambé are served in the classic tableside style. Also for the winter season, a $140 per person, six-course tasting menu is offered Monday to Friday (minimum six guests). The BYOB meal is based around the wines from a patron’s personal collection

Scheduled to open early this year in Ridge Hill is a second location of Mount Kisco-based Frannie’s Goodie Shop (Westchester’s Ridge Hill, 260 Market St, Yonkers no phone as of press date). The independently owned self-serve frozen yogurt shop offers 12 flavors and more than 80 toppings

Jimmy Rodriguez is planning to open his second location of Don Coqui at 107 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains this month. The original is in New Rochelle (115 Cedar St 914-637-3737; doncoqui.com)

Orfino’s Restaurant (1112 Pleasantville Rd, Briarcliff Manor 914-941-7353; orfinosrestaurant.com) moved into the space once occupied by the defunct Amalfi Restaurant & Caterers

Likely opening this month in the space that previously held Greenwich Furniture Barn is Anna Artuso’s Pastry Shop (270 Mamaroneck Ave, Mamaroneck). The Italian bakery is separately owned from the Anna Artuso’s  Pastry Shop in Yonkers on McLean Avenue.
