Five(!)-time World Pizza Champion Bruno DiFabio is is set to open—what else—a pizza shop, a small one: 20-seat RéNapoli Pizzeria and Chicago Italian Beef (216 Sound Beach Ave, Greenwich, CT, 203-698-9300). The shop’s wood-fired oven and traditional brick-floor oven will pump out three styles of pizza: Romana (a 12” x 24” pan pizza divided into three sections, each with different toppings); Napoletana (a thin-crust pie baked in a 900˚ F wood-fired oven); and a New York Pie (a chewy-crusted pizza). And, as you may have surmised by the name, DiFabio is also offering a Chicago Italian Beef Sandwich, which, for non-Chicagoans, is a Terranova baguette stuffed wtih slow-roasted Italian spiced beef, topped with hot pickled vegetables, and dipped into beef au jus. Part of the World’s Best Pizza restaurant group that includes, among others, Amore Pizza in Scarsdale and Pinocchio Pizza and Pasta in Pound Ridge, RéNapoli will be open every day for lunch and dinner.

Themed lunches ($33 to $35) and dinners ($55 to $60) are being offered through March at The Culinary Institute of America (1946 Campus
Dr, Hyde Park, NY 845-471-6608) during its 2011 Dining Series. More than 40 dining events are scheduled

Turkish Meze (409 Mount Pleasant Ave, Mamaroneck 914-777-3042) has launched a full-service catering company, Creative Foods Catering (914-882-3986), offering Eastern Mediterranean cuisine (e.g., mini kebabs, hummus cups, baba ghanoush, equipment rentals, servers, etc.). The Turkish restaurant also has expanded its space (from 45 seats to 75) and menu (grilled calamari, cold seafood salad, lamb sauté, grilled swordfish kebob, lobster ravioli)

Bonnie Briar Country Club, Antun’s of Westchester, V.I.P. Country Club, Trader Joe’s, and Fenway Golf Club are the latest donors to County Harvest, a Pelham–based not-for-profit organization that services soup kitchens in lower Westchester. The organization, founded in October 2009, collects excess food from caterers, supermarkets, and restaurants and then delivers it to food pantries and homeless shelters. Through March, Italian restaurant and gelateria Via Vanti! (2 Kirby Plz, Mount Kisco 914-666-6400) is offering a soup honoring Governor Andrew Cuomo, aptly dubbed the Lago di Cuomo. A bowl ($9) consists of purée of winter greens with crostini topped with goat cheese, chopped tomato, and fresh basil. The soup is vegan, non-dairy, and can be made gluten-free. Is the governor lactose-intolerant or a sufferer of Celiac disease? We haven’t a clue. But owner Carla Gambescia will be glad to give you a complimentary taste—until the end of January.
