What to add to your Netflix queue this month
A Serious Man
DVD Release Date: February 9, Universal Studios Home Entertainment
Everyone thought that the bob-haired, coin-flipping terror Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Men was the apex of weird, but, with their next film, the Coen Brothers managed to become even more bizarre. A Serious Man, about a down-on-his-luck college professor, manages to include dybbuks, rambling rabbis, weird science, and more to try and work out the meaning of life—or at least the meaning of life as the Coens see it.
The Wolf Man: Special Edition, Universal Legacy Series
DVD Release Date: February 2, Universal Studios Home Entertainment
How will Benicio Del Toro stack up to Lon Chaney Jr.? Before The Wolfman comes out on February 12, check out the 1941 original—then you can judge for yourself which film is better at capturing the art of lycanthropy. (Yes, we will take any and every opportunity to use the word “lycanthropy.”)
Zombieland
DVD Release Date: February 2, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
If you loved Shaun of the Dead, you’ll be pleased to learn that the genre of “zombie comedy” is still going strong. Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson play unlikely buddies struggling to survive the post-zombie apocalypse and hunting for one of the world’s few remaining Twinkies. Their banter keeps the movie light—but there’s plenty of zombie gore for those fans of the juicier elements of the genre.

Clint Eastwood: 35 Films 35 Years at Warner Bros.
DVD Release Date: February 16, Warner Brothers Home Entertainment
The ultimate collection for any Clint Eastwood mega-fan, this boxed set includes every Eastwood movie made at Warner Brothers between Where Eagles Dare and Gran Torino. Yep, it’s got the good ones: Dirty Harry, Unforgiven, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby. Sure, the $180 price tag is a little steep, but it averages out to a little more than $5 per movie—practically the cost of a rental.
