Village Mercantile, a general store with a playful sensibility.

Have some house-proud folks you’ll be seeing over the holidays? Gift your city-expat pal with a taste of Brooklyn-meets-the-burbs at the creatively curated Maisonette in Hastings-on-Hudson. Pick up accents with cool-borough cred, like recycled cotton throws and handcrafted wooden bowls. Or if you’re shopping for someone who longs for a slower pace, head to Larchmont’s Village Mercantile. This modern interpretation of an old-fashioned general store showcases a thoughtful mix of the artisanal and whimsical, including vintage-inspired glassware, picture frames, and playful pillows with fun phrases.
