Comedians from Westchester County

These six Westchesterites are proving that our county is seriously funny.

Remember that classic Seinfeld scene in which Jerry gives that annoying comedian Kenny Banya a free bit?

“The jar’s round, the mug is round. They should call it Roundtine!”

If Seinfeld’s gift to Banya is your idea of standup comedy, then you’ve got a lot to learn. And if you think the Westchester men and women trying to find a place in that world spend their days talking about nothing while they sip coffee and argue about being masters of their own domain—well, my friends, worlds are about to collide.

When it comes to work ethic, these pros have more in common with the über-Type-A Wall Street traders than they do with wandering, apathetic slackers. Standup is hard and stressful work—just ask some of Westchester’s best.

The “MP” in MP Taverna doesn’t stand for “Mostly Perfect,” but it might as well.
