It just wouldn’t be the holiday season without a production—or two or three—of the ballet classic The Nutcracker. This year, you have quite a few opportunities to catch the wooden soldier in action. The Westchester Ballet Company, one of the oldest community ballets in the country, started its Nutcracker tradition shortly after its founding more than 50 years ago, and returns for another year at the County Center. If you choose instead to see the Purchase Dance Corps’ production, you can watch more than 100 local children who have joined the company. Or, if you live over the county border, you can see the rare “Snow Pas de Deux” at the Ridgefield Playhouse or Balanchine’s original Nutcracker choreography at the Stamford Center for the Arts.
